Protecting Big Cats While Meeting Global Energy Needs

The goal should not be to stop all energy development. People need energy, and renewable sources have an important role to play in creating a lower-carbon future. However, clean energy should also be developed responsibly. A project can reduce carbon emissions while still causing serious local damage if wildlife and ecosystems are ignored.

Protecting endangered big cats requires governments, energy companies, conservation organisations and local communities to work together. By choosing development sites carefully, protecting wildlife corridors, maintaining prey populations and monitoring animals over the long term, it is possible to reduce the impact of energy projects.
